CTD
- The Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) system uses the SBE 911plus model manufactured by Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc. (SBE) from the USA. It consists of the 9plus main unit (including the pressure sensor) and the SBE 11plus Deck Unit. This model is equipped on research vessels and features eight A/D channels, capable of collecting vertical profiles of pressure (depth), temperature, and conductivity from stations up to 6,000 meters deep. These measurements can be converted to basic oceanographic data such as salinity, density, and sound velocity.
- Depending on experimental needs, various sensors such as dissolved oxygen, transmissivity, fluorescence, and underwater light sensors can be added to obtain biochemical vertical profiles.
- The system can also be used in conjunction with the SBE 32 rosette water sampler for water collection.
