Vertical Microstructure Profiler
The Vertical Microstructure Turbulence Profiler (VMP) is an instrument that sinks in a free-fall mode to measure the turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate (ε) in seawater. Depending on the target maximum depth, the profiler is available in two models: the VMP-250, rated for depths up to 500 meters, and the VMP-500, rated for depths up to 1000 meters. Additionally, the instrument offers two data recording modes: Real-Time (RT), which transmits data immediately via cable, and Internally Recording (IR), which stores data internally for later retrieval.
