Shipek Grab

The Shippek grab sampler is designed to collect surface sediment from the seabed. Weighing only about 60 kg, it is commonly used in shallow waters. Its dimensions are 472 × 638 × 422 mm, with a sampling area of 0.04 m² and a sampling depth of 102 mm. During operation, the semicircular lid is flipped open and locked into position using a handle. When the sampler touches the seabed, a spring is triggered, causing the lid to rotate back and close, thus capturing the sediment sample.
