Marine Gravity
A shipborne gravimeter is a specialized instrument designed for conducting gravity measurements on a moving vessel. It is widely used in geophysical exploration, crustal structure research, and seabed resource surveys. This equipment can measure minute variations in the Earth's gravity field in real time while the ship is underway, reflecting seabed topography and geological features.
To compensate for ship motion and acceleration disturbances, shipborne gravimeters typically work with stabilization platforms (such as gimbals) and inertial measurement units (IMUs) to ensure measurement accuracy. Advanced systems can achieve resolutions within 0.1 mGal. With high sensitivity, dynamic observation capability, and broad survey coverage, it is an essential tool for marine gravity mapping and energy exploration.
