Magnetometer

磁力儀

Magnetometers use precise magnetic sensors to measure the Earth's magnetic field intensity, producing survey data that can be plotted as contour maps of magnetic anomalies. The magnetization of rocks depends on their magnetic susceptibility and the local Earth's magnetic field strength.

By conducting grid-pattern magnetic surveys at sea, magnetometers can detect seabed structures, determine basement depth, and characterize the basement surface. Additionally, magnetic measurements are used in engineering and archaeology to analyze anomalies that may indicate the presence of ferromagnetic materials underground.
