2026 Summer student program

**2026 Summer Undergraduate Research Program

Institute of Oceanography, National Taiwan University**


Purpose

The Institute aims to enhance public interest in marine research and encourage undergraduate students from universities and colleges to participate in research projects. Through scientific training and hands-on experience, students will strengthen their experimental and practical skills and be guided toward future careers in marine research and related professional fields.


Eligibility

Undergraduate students currently enrolled in colleges and universities across Taiwan (excluding graduating students) who have an interest in marine research are eligible to apply.


Application Deadline

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM, April 24, 2026 (Friday). Late applications will not be accepted.

Results will be announced in early May 2026 on the program website:

Successful applicants will also be notified individually. Applicants who fail to report on time or cannot participate for the full duration may have their admission revoked.


Research Period and Activities

  1. The program will run from July 1 (Wednesday) to August 14 (Friday), 2026 (approximately 1.5 months).
  2. Before the end of the program, participants are required to present their research成果 in poster format at the final presentation session on August 14, 2026 (Friday).
  3. Applicants who are unable to participate for the entire duration are advised not to apply.

Subsidy

Research expenses and student stipends will be covered by the supervising faculty member of each project. Please refer to individual project descriptions for detailed information.


How to Apply

  1. Official academic transcripts for all semesters.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (including name, date of birth, registered address, national ID number, university/department/year, contact number, and email).
  3. A one-page statement describing your understanding of and interest in marine science.
  4. Selection of three preferred research projects, listed in order of priority.
  5. Compile all documents into a single PDF file and submit via email before April 24, 2026, 5:00 PM to:

Review of Applications

Applications will be reviewed by the Institute’s curriculum committee in collaboration with faculty members proposing the projects. Selection will be based on applicants’ academic background and motivation, and admission will be granted to the most qualified candidates.
