2026 Ocean Science Annual Meeting and Research of the Oceanography Program, National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)

I. Background and Objectives

The Ocean Science Annual Meeting is a major annual academic event for the marine science community in Taiwan. This year’s meeting is scheduled to take place from May 12 (Tuesday) to May 14 (Thursday) at Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City.

The conference will bring together faculty members, researchers, postdoctoral fellows, students, and research assistants from various oceanographic disciplines to present their latest research findings and developments, fostering academic exchange and collaboration.

The meeting will be organized around four main thematic areas: Physical Oceanography, Chemical Oceanography, Marine Geology/Geophysics, and Marine Biology/Fisheries. It aims to provide a diverse and interdisciplinary platform to strengthen the integration and advancement of marine science research.

The program will include keynote and invited talks, poster presentations, and a poster competition. In addition, the Youth Forum will continue as a key feature, recognizing outstanding student research and presenting awards to encourage young scholars to engage in marine science research.

On the first day, plenary speakers (to be announced) will be invited, along with presentations from national research fleets, major instrumentation centers, and data repository units. Each participating unit will be allocated approximately 15 minutes to showcase their research capabilities and resources.

Through this annual meeting, participants will not only exchange the latest research results and trends but also build professional networks and collaborations. Furthermore, the conference provides a valuable platform for young scholars to learn and present their work, thereby strengthening the foundation of marine science research and education in Taiwan and promoting the sustainable development of related fields.
