Ultra Short Baseline Systems
Sonardyne’s Wideband Sub-Mini Transponder/Responder (WSM) model 8070 is a high-performance USBL (Ultra-Short Baseline) responder designed for underwater positioning, suitable for ROVs, tow fish, and other mobile targets. The 8070 model is equipped with a high-power directional transducer for operations up to 4,000 meters, providing acoustic output comparable to large seabed transponders.
The 8070 model supports Sonardyne’s Wideband signal technology, delivering excellent ranging accuracy and rapid position updates, and is compatible with traditional Sonardyne tones as well as HPR 300 and HiPAP® channels. Built-in depth sensors enhance positioning accuracy, and external switches facilitate operation and storage. The robust anodized aluminum alloy construction, paired with long-lasting NiMH batteries or external 24V power supply, make them suitable for a wide range of underwater tasks.
