Single Beam Echo Sounder
The single-beam echo sounder mainly consists of a transducer, a transmitter-receiver unit, and a recorder. Its principle is to emit a sound wave toward the seabed; when the wave hits the seabed, it reflects back to the ship’s hull and is received by the transducer. By calculating the time difference, the depth of the seabed can be determined.
Shinkai Ken 1 is currently equipped with three frequency bands of EA echo sounders: 12 kHz, 38 kHz, and 200 kHz.
